“Devil’s Snare, Devil’s Snare, it is deadly fun but sulks in the sun.”
I think that is a great way to sum up an addiction. It is deadly, you know it. That causes guilt and shame because you know better, you know you shouldn’t be participating, but in the moment it can be fun, exhilarating, in the moment it can even feel liberating, but that is all part of the magical illusion.
It will sulk in the Sun:
Pornography is one of the devil’s greatest snares. The more you struggle in secret, on your own, the worse it will get. Even if it takes years to finally snuff the life out of you, it will. Without proper assistance and exposure to light, in the form of honesty, accountability, sincere confession and course correction you cannot be free. Mind you, that last statement was not a one time event but something that must happen continually for what could be the remainder of your life as you learn to manage your chronic condition. It is Light and Truth that will set you free.
John 8:12: Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
